Earthbound Man: Three Futures 36 x 18" ~ 2025
The Earth sets the final limits on what we may do, despite fantasies of colonizing other planets, at least realistically. The tryptic above, entitled “Earthbound Man,” refers to three futures happening simultaneously. Drought, fires, floods, or regeneration? Increasingly precarious and fragile environmental conditions have emerged with the loss of Holocene stability. Using my photographs plus borrowing an image of the Earth from NASA, I focus on both the lack of security and the challenges facing us going forward. The images below are also inspired by the concept "Earthbound," articulated by philosopher Bruno Latour.
